Greenways for Nashville / Longform Content Creation
-
Greenways for Nashville is a non-profit with a mission to create, preserve, and promote a system of greenways in Nashville and Davidson County. They advocate for the preservation and protection of natural and cultural areas, development of community recreational opportunities, and acquisition of land for preservation as greenways and parks.

Every year, Greenways for Nashville members receive the annual Greenprint newsletter in the mail. The newsletter serves as a critical source of information regarding completed and upcoming projects, events, and organizational reports — and serves as a fundraising source for the non-profit. As the Communications & Outreach Manager, I was responsible for overseeing the design, content, and production of the Greenprint.

Content Mapping: Created a content plan to address organizational goals through informative articles relating to user stories, board member insights, and organizational impact. Overall, the goal was to tell a story while answering questions members might have, encouraging engagement, and driving support.
Content Creation: Using the content map, I then worked to expand upon each topic with insightful content. For some articles, I engaged board members and Greenways for Nashville members to tell their own stories.
Storyboarding: Again referencing the content map, I worked with a contracted designer to storyboard the newsletter. This included designing the flow of the newsletter and selecting accompanying images that supported the story we were trying to tell.
Editing: Working alongside our contracted designer and the rest of the Greenways for Nashville team, I then oversaw editing of the Greenprint. We paid special attention to content flow, design space (no overcrowding of content, here!), and relatability.

The final product included a run of 2,500 printed newsletters which were mailed to all Greenways for Nashville members — and, ensured extra copies were available for organizational programs and events.
